SALT: Angelina Jolie bad timing!

INDIA'S BEST COLLEGES, INSTITUTES and UNIVERSITIES

TSI Five-O: Palatable but not delectable!

As Angelina Jolieluck would have it, the launch time for 'Salt' couldn't have been more wrong. With 'Inception' hogging the box office limelight, 'Salt' has been side-lined, especially since it is no blockbuster as such. Based on the concept of a CIA agent being accused of being a Russian spy, the story line could have been very interesting and gripping, but is instead weak as the so-called suspense is given out too soon. Thereafter, with respect to the present day scenario, the very plot of the movie doesn't quite stand to logic. If it had been set in the 90s, it would have made more sense.

Unlike 'Mr & Mrs Smith', where Jolie plays the second fiddle, this is completely a Jolie delight. The action is far better than in 'Tomb Raider', but goes a little over the top. A fragile Evelyn Salt (Angelina) devastates (literally) her opponents even in hand-to-hand combat. The story gets a little ridiculous in between when access to White House and almost every other private and high-security place is shown as a cake walk. Salt is not only skilled but a master of disguise too, except her character lacks clarity with respect to her true feelings toward life. She's shown toggling between being a CIA agent and thereafter a terminator, which shall be stopped by nothing at all! There is negligible room for anyone else in the movie, and hence Angelina must be credited for pulling off a movie all by herself.
